I hope you did... cross the line between safe and risky — between ordinary and adventurous — by attending the PuSh Festival in January.
I’m so proud to tell you that this year the Festival once again PuShed artistic boundaries by bringing the best and most innovative contemporary performing arts to Vancouver. There were so many standout performances … like Winners and Losers, hailed by the Georgia Straight as “one of the most exciting, intelligent—and entertaining—shows you’ll see this season.” Meanwhile, Ride the Cyclone earned recognition as “quirky and beautiful, funny and sad, smart and exciting.” The Globe and Mail praised its “sheer inventiveness.”
And guess what. Our family of donors made it possible. Everyone who has supported PuSh with donations has helped the city of Vancouver cross the line … and has insisted unequivocally that arts and culture are at the centre of this city’s life, well-being and prosperity!
PuSh has nowhere to go but up. But as we budget for another amazing three weeks next year, we need your help urgently. Your contribution will go so far because, as a charity, we rely on people like you to help bring thought-provoking live performing arts to Vancouver. It was our friends and supporters who enabled us to bring in performances from all over the world. Shows like Testament, a skilful and moving look at the realities of aging and parenthood. Or The Strange Undoing of Prudencia Hart, an evening of supernatural storytelling told in song and rhyming couplets.
PuSh can only grow when people like you are willing to help incubate brilliant ideas by some of the world’s most creative theatre makers, composers, choreographers and multimedia artists.
PuSh can’t cross any lines without you.
