“A wanton king was once banished from the earth.
Imprisoned on the moon, doomed to look upon the life he left behind, but never to return,
The king shed a tear and it landed upon his former lovers.
With their deaths, a terrible sadness fell upon the land.
A second tear was shed.
Monsters appeared among the children of the king.
The heirs to the throne set forth to confront the king, never to return.
A third tear was shed.”
From the start of time we’ve told stories to impart wisdom, morality and humanity to future generations. We hope those stories will endure until the end of time, but for the Silver King the end of time is fast approaching. Will he reap what he has sown and meet death at the hands of his bastard heirs, or will he be the destroyer? In this multi-faceted story, Dirty Laundry Collective asks what creates a monster. Are monsters born or made? When is a monster the hero? Who decides? Is redemption possible?
Dirty Laundry Creations is the second graduating class of the Bachelor of Performing Arts Program. They are an assortment of dancers, musicians, designers, actors, directors and filmmakers from across the country, soiled and thrown into a collective. Under veteran Vancouver artists Marguerite Witvoet and David Bloom, the emerging artists of Dirty Laundry Creations have broadened their views of performance and hope you’ll do the same.
