Following Gloria’s Cause, pioneering multidisciplinary artist Dayna Hanson grabs the mic and rocks the joint. Former co–artistic director of 33 Fainting Spells, she also plays keyboards and bass in the rock band Today!
Dayna Hanson has been combining original music with dance, performance and film for more than twenty years. Having studied piano, voice and flute as a child, she currently composes, sings and plays keyboards and bass guitar. In 2006 Hanson formed Today!, a high contrast, pop/rock foursome conceived as a house band for her dance theater piece, We Never Like Talking About The End. Featuring collaborators Dave Proscia, Maggie Brown and Paul Moore, the band kept playing when the dance piece ended, performing at venues such as Bumbershoot, ACT Theatre and The Sunset Tavern. The group has also created scores for several of Hanson’s short films. The band’s expanded line-up for Hanson’s current piece, Gloria’s Cause, includes multi-talented performers Jim Kent, Wade Madsen, Peggy Piacenza, Pol Rosenthal and Jessie Smith.
