“…a fresh take on music that straddles the border between old time blues, and stompy rock ‘n’ roll.” (CBC Radio 2) The British Columbians’ finely crafted songs are as fresh, original and ruggedly pastoral as their name suggests.
In the spring of 2009, The British Columbians were first brought to the public’s attention when they were unanimously voted “Canada’s Best Undiscovered Band” by a virtual who’s who of the Canadian music industry, including representatives from Dine Alone Records, Last Gang Records, Roadrunner Records and Universal respectively. Since then the band has been very busy in support of their eponymous and independently released debut album. From sharing the stage with such bands as Broken Social Scene, Plants & Animals, Band of Skulls, Arkells and K-OS to contributing music for the latest Brita Water advertising campaign, a cross-Canada tour and a CBC Radio acoustic special called “The Toque Sessions”, there has been very little down time for the Vancouver based band. Look for the release of The British Columbians’ sophomore record in the winter of 2010.
