Communications Intern (Volunteer)

About the Position

This internship opportunity is ideally suited to students participating in both Fall/Winter semesters. To qualify, you must be currently enrolled at an accredited post-secondary institution.

This volunteer position runs October 2018 – March 2019, with some flexibility.

The Communications Intern will provide support to the day-to-day administrative activities of the Communications department, and the delivery of the Festival. The Intern will also provide professional support to senior management and other staff and will act as an advocate of the PuSh International Performing Arts Festival Society to arts professionals, various stakeholders, and the community at large through digital channels.

This internship position includes, but is not limited to, assistance with the following:

  • Working with the Communications Director to track and monitor print advertising collateral through its production cycle;
  • Working with the Digital Communications Coordinator to execute social media campaigns;
  • Working with the Distribution Coordinator and Volunteer Coordinator to ensure Communications department needs are being met;
  • Preparing community partnership campaigns in conjunction with Communications department;
  • Planning for Festival events such as the Festival Program Launch event (November), and throughout the Festival (January & February) and providing support on the evenings of these events;
  • Other duties as required.

About You

You are an organized, detail-oriented individual who is inherently curious and a natural self-starter. You are eager to learn about the inner-workings of a large-scale, high-profile, international arts festival, and can bring to the role a professional manner, an outgoing personality, and an ability to communicate effectively with multiple internal stakeholders. You must demonstrate an ability to pay attention to detail, to manage multiple priorities on a daily basis. You must be able to work flexible hours, especially during the Festival production season October to February.

You enjoy the performing arts. You enjoy learning and being part of a passionate, collaborative team. You pay attention to deadlines and have demonstrated computer skills, especially Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, Google Suite, Word/Excel, WordPress. Experience editing video is a plus. Experience in a Mac environment is preferred.
