How to Attend PuSh

General Information

Each year dozens of staff and volunteers come together to produce the work of leading artists from around the world. As a city-wide festival, PuSh shows happen at venues around the city, often in co-production partnership with Vancouver’s cultural mainstays.

Most Festival events are Performances of theatre, dance, and musical productions. Club PuSh features cutting-edge works in a less formal atmosphere, often later in the evening. PuSh Assembly serves performing arts professionals to deepen their craft and networks. Select events include Talkback sessions where the audience can enter discussion with the artists themselves immediately following the performance. The lineup rounds out with Film Screenings and parties to shake off the winter doldrums. The current year lineup is refreshed in November.

Absolutely! Many patrons attend PuSh shows solo. The magic is between you and the performer(s) and the rest of the audience — it doesn’t matter if you arrived with an old friend or leave with a new one. Your PuSh experience is yours to inhabit.

Absolutely not! Each person should feel free to attend PuSh performances in whatever clothing feels appropriate to them. Because we’re a winter festival, the average patron is generally more concerned with umbrellas and coats than ties or heels. But feel free to be as sharply dressed or as casually cool as you wish. Come as you are.

Yes, outdoor shows happen in rain or shine! Please be prepared and dressed for Vancouver weather.

Late entry is disruptive for the performers and audience, and we cannot guarantee late entry into a show. To ensure entry, we recommend you arrive no less than 30 minutes before showtime to claim your tickets at the box office and be seated.

Any late entry, if it is at all possible, is at the sole discretion of the venue front of house staff.

Yes! If you book a Club PuSh show on your Pass or buy a single ticket, you have access one hour before showtime. So arrive early and/or stay late to enjoy some drinks, music and conversation with the fellow Festival-goers.

Venue box offices generally open one hour prior to showtime, with the exception of the Queen Elizabeth Theatre (for Frontera) which opens two hours prior to showtime.

Some PuSh Festival shows may not be appropriate for young audiences; most contain mature content intended for adults. Please visit the specific show pages for a detailed description of each work. Though PuSh Festival Audience Services is pleased to advise, it is at the discretion of the parent or guardian to determine if a show is age-appropriate.

Any audience member, regardless of age, must have a ticket to enter the venue and attend the show.

Please note that Central Studios (Club PuSh and other events) is a licensed venue and therefore all audience members must be 19 years of age and older to attend shows at this venue (with two pieces of valid proof-of-age photo ID).
