There’s one week exactly until All Hallows Eve is upon us. If there’s anyone out there like me, you’ve given up on creating a one-of-a-kind costume and have reverted to “borrowing” a friend’s old idea.
For those of you who are still holding out for that costume that will make everyone at the party high five you and earn you the coveted 1st Place spot in the Costume Contest, check out the Arts Club Theatre Costume Sale this Sunday and Monday October 26th and 27th in the lower lobby of the Granville Island Stage (1585 Johnston St.). The sale runs from 11am-4pm both days, with a special industry only time from 11am-12pm on Sunday.
There’ll be pieces for sale from productions such as Gypsy, Cabaret, Alice in Wonderland as well as regular wigs, suits and other miscellaneous items.
I’ll be there, first in line, ready to take on anyone who tried to take the Queen of Hearts costume from me. I’ll be the belle of the ball….

Vancouver photographer Jeff Wall‘s exhibition opens at the Vancouver Art Gallery on Saturday, October 25th and runs until January 25th, 2009. This will be Wall’s first solo show in Vancouver since 1990.

Come check out what Peter Ladner and Gregor Robertson have to say about the state of the arts in Vancouver this Sunday. Hosted by the Greater Vancouver Professional Theatre Alliance (GVPTA) and the Alliance for Arts & Culture, this event will be moderated by Donna Spencer, Artistic Producer of the Firehall Arts Centre and founding member of the Alliance for Arts & Culture.
Topics will range from the role of culture in the Olympics to the possible creation of an arms-length civic arts council, and everything in between.
If you’re involved in the arts, or if you just plain care about the cultural state of Vancouver, come out. One of these guys will be leading our city for the next few years, and we should know where they stand when it comes to the arts and culture side of things.
