Directing Workshop Spaces Still Available!

January 07, 2009

Hello all you creative types,

Toshiki Okada, the playwright and artistic director of the much acclaimed Japanese chelfitsch Theatre Company, will lead a FREE directing workshop on January 24 at Performance Works on Granville Island.

Okada, whose play Five Days in March is playing at the Festival this year, has become the most talked about playwright in Japan for the language in his plays; actors speak in Japanese slang, in what has been coined as “super-real” Japanese. The ways in which actors use and manipulate their bodies has also contributed to Okada and chelfitschs’s success, and led to the company being recognized by the contemporary dance world as innovators in the field.

If you are interested in taking part in the workshop, please send your expression of interest to michele@pushfestival.ca

The workshop runs from 11 am to 4pm on Saturday, January 24th and is open to professional artists.

Enrollment is limited to 15 people, and there are a few spaces still available.
