PuSh Festival Senior Curator Sherrie Johnson Accepts Position as Artistic Director of Inaugural International Festival
April 05, 2012
PuSh Festival senior curator Sherrie Johnson will be stepping down from her role at PuSh to take up a new position as artistic director to plan, launch and direct an exciting and innovative new arts and cultural festival in the New England area slated to begin in 2013.
Sherrie has been instrumental in the growth and development of the PuSh International Performing Arts Festival for the past six years. She came on as an associate producer for the 2007 PuSh Festival, hosting the second iteration of the PuSh Assembly networking event. In 2008 she moved into the position of Assembly producer and was appointed senior curator in 2009.
“Sherrie’s mark on the PuSh Festival is indelible,” said executive director Norman Armour. “There are few performing arts curators or producers in this country—in either English or French—who could match her knowledge, curatorial élan, experience, business savvy and determination. I am fortunate to count her as one of my most treasured colleagues and friends. For the 2012/13 season, Sherrie will work with the PuSh International Performing Arts Festival Society in a curatorial advisory capacity. It is with both sadness and joy that I wish Sherrie all the best in her dynamic new leadership role.”
More information on the new festival she will be working on will be announced this summer.
