PuSh International Performing Arts Festival and Théâtre la Seizième present Séquence 8 by Les 7 doigts de la main (Quebec)
The PuSh International Performing Arts Festival and Théâtre la Seizième are delighted to bring renowned Quebec company Les 7 doigts de la main to Vancouver with their latest creation, Séquence 8. The PuSh Festival and Théâtre la Seizième have partnered with local producer Tom Lightburn to present Séquence 8 for three nights—January 22 to 24, 2015—at the Vancouver Playhouse.
Séquence 8 is a physical feat of astonishing circus, theatre, dance and movement that has been awing and inspiring audiences around the world, having recently returned from a sold-out run at London’s Sadler’s Well. This awesome feat of contemporary circus draws its inspiration from Carl Jung’s statement that “The meeting of two personalities is like the contact of two chemical substances: if there is any reaction, both are transformed.” There are eight performers, each with a particular skill, but all working brilliantly together as an ensemble. Séquence 8 is so generous, so ambitious, so daring in its sense of physical possibility that it seems to contain every aspect of performance. Dance, acrobatics, storytelling, circus—it’s an evening at the theatre that combines imagination and athletics at dizzyingly high levels. Prepare to spend 90 minutes on the edge of your seat.
Les 7 doigts de la main (also known as 7 Fingers) is an experimental company: its founding directors work together as choreographers, performers and in other roles, seeking to bring circus to theatre audiences and expand the potential of dance and theatre. The company has presented works in over 300 cities and 40 countries. They may be new to many in Vancouver but around the world—including productions in the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympic Games and sold-out runs on Broadway—they have earned a reputation for fast-paced, smart works that deliver thrills. Past performances include Traces (touring the world since 2006), circus choreography for Pippin: The Musical (2013, winner of four Tony awards), and Queen of the Night (running in New York City since 2013).

The PuSh International Performing Arts Festival is Vancouver’s mid-winter festival presenting acclaimed local, national and international artists.
