Sol
Director: Marie-Hélène Cousineau, Susan Avingaq (Canada)
“In 2013, there were 45 suicides in Nunavut. Thirteen times higher than the national average.” So begins this deeply necessary film that explores the life and death of Solomon Tapatia Uyarasak, a 26-year-old Inuk actor and musician who died in police custody. As family and friends seek answers about Sol’s fate, the underlying social conditions endemic in the Canadian north are given a searing investigation.
Paired with Jack Charles V. The Crown and Huff.
