—Toronto StarThey’ve researched, they’ve taught, they’ve publicized, they’ve protested… but above all, they’ve loved—each other and the planet. Drs. David Suzuki and Tara Cullis are activists and life partners, and on this special evening, they take the opportunity to share with us a lifetime of stories. This workshop presentation is a casual, conversational piece of theatre, powered by the warmth and affability of the couple, but it carries with it a message of the utmost importance.
The bonds of family, the excitement and frustrations of advocacy, the motivating force of love itself: these and more are explored onstage, all in the interest of energizing the audience. The question Suzuki and Cullis put forth is whether or not we can love the planet the way we love those closest to us—friends, partners, family. Here are two generous, committed people who fell in love with each other and with Earth. Can we learn from their example?

Artist Bio
David Suzuki
David Suzuki is perhaps best known as the host of CBC’s The Nature of Things, but his struggles on behalf of the environment have also contributed to his renown. David has written, spoken and marched for his chosen cause; in 1990 he established the David Suzuki Foundation, an organization that provides information, assists in legal challenges and works with governments and other NGOs, all in the service of protecting our shared habitat.
Tara Cullis
Tara Cullis is an award-winning writer and a former lecturer at Harvard who left academia to concentrate on ecological activism. She is co-founder and President of the David Suzuki Foundation, and her struggles on behalf of the environment have led her to Southeast Asia, the Amazon Rainforest and the Great Bear Rainforest of British Columbia. In seeking to protect the latter region, Tara helped foster an historic alliance of coastal Indigenous peoples; she has since been adopted and named by the Haida, Gitga’at, Heltsuk and Nam’gis First Nations.
