National Day for Truth and Reconciliation

On September 30th, PuSh will observe Orange Shirt Day and the first ever National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. As an organization we continue to look for ways to support the fulfillment of the 94 Truth and Reconciliation Commission Calls To Action, including number 80 which calls upon the federal government, in collaboration with Aboriginal peoples, to establish, as a statutory holiday, a National Day for Truth and Reconciliation to honour Survivors, their families, and communities, and ensure that public commemoration of the history and legacy of residential schools remains a vital component of the reconciliation process.

Reconciliation is an ongoing process, one we are committed to supporting. Central to this is ensuring that Indigenous perspectives are present throughout the PuSh organization – in the artists we present, at the board table, and on the leadership and staff teams.

Today we lift up our hands to the many Indigenous and non-Indigenous arts organizations engaged in ensuring the stories of First Nations, Inuit, and Metis peoples of this territory continue to be given voice.
